Fr. Evan Armatas, Presbyter
Father Evan is the priest of Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox mission in Loveland, Colorado. Father Evan received his Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy from Boston College with an emphasis in business management and Christian apologetics in 1991. He earned his Master of Divinity from Holy Cross in 2002 and served as an assistant priest for five years at Saint Catherine Greek Orthodox Church in Greenwood Village before being assigned as St. Spyridon’s first full time priest in August of 2007.
In 2002, Father Evan founded St. Nektarios Education Fund, a non-profit student education program. The fund, which he still manages, has established five schools in Africa with one on the way while also providing over 450 student scholarships delivering over $650,000 in student aide through its network partners of IOCC and OCMC. Father Evan is the Metropolis of Denver Program Director of Camp Emmanuel, its summer youth camping program, and currently serves as the Metropolis Clergy Syndesmos President. Father Evan and his wife Presbytera Anastasia are the happy parents of three daughters, Alexia, Eleni, Maria, and a son Spyridon; they live in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Dn. Mark O’Dell, Deacon
Having retired from nearly 33 years of government service, Dn. Mark returned home to Colorado and joined the community at Saint Spyridon Church in 2010. Dn. Mark completed the St. Stephen’s course of studies and was ordained to the diaconate in 2003. He served for nearly 8 years as a deacon at Holy Cross Orthodox Church in Linthicum, MD. Dn. Mark received both his MBA and BS (Math) degrees from Colorado State University.
Sh. Ina O’Dell, Christian Education Director
With over 40 years of experience working with kids in churches, scouts, and homeschooling their 2 sons for 17 years, Sh. Ina finally became an Orthodox Church School teacher for the first time in 1995. Sh. Ina and her husband, Dn. Mark, are returning here after living out east where they were a part of Holy Cross Orthodox Church. God has given her a great love for the children at St. Spyridon as she serves as the Christian Education Director.
Emily Lum, Youth Director
Born in Columbus, Ohio, Emily graduated from Hope College in Holland, Michigan with a studio art degree. She has been working with various youth ministries since high school and now is thoroughly enjoying working with the “kids” of St. Spyridon ages 0 to 35. Contact her for any questions about the “extra-curricular” events for the youth. There’s always something going on!
Chris Finger, Director of Music & Adult Choir Director
Chris is a graduate of the Sacred Music Department at Moody Bible Institute. He married his wife, Barb, in 1967, and they moved to Boulder, Colorado where Chris earned a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Colorado–Boulder. He taught choral music for seven years at the secondary school level and at First Presbyterian Church in Boulder, and then launched a piano tuning and rebuilding business that eventually became Chris Finger Pianos in Niwot, Colorado. The store specialized in complete piano restorations and imported the finest quality German pianos.
Barbara Finger, Organist
Barb has played the organ at various churches since her high school years. She graduated from the Sacred Music Department at Moody Bible Institute and then completed both Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees in organ performance through the School of Music at Indiana University. Barb was principal organist at First Presbyterian Church in Boulder, Colorado for several years, and directed children’s choirs there as well. She helped Chris in their business, Chris Finger Pianos, and raised their three wonderful children.
Charlotte Todd, Lead Chanter & Youth Choir Director
Charlotte graduated magna cum laude from the University of Denver, where she earned her Bachelor of Music in vocal performance. She married Marine officer Brian Todd in 1984 and lived in many places as a result. She began chanting in 1998, and has attended numerous music and chanting workshops at the Sacred Music Institute at the Antiochian Village. Charlotte homeschooled their six children, and several of her daughters have become active in chanting ministry with her. Charlotte has been active in several choirs and vocal ensembles over the years, including the Denver-based Orthodox Octet directed by the late composer Richard Toensing.
